Peralta joined the Marine Corps the day after he received his "Green Card" and became a United States Citizen while in uniform. In Dec. 2004 Congressman Bob Filner introduced legislation to award Sgt. Peralta the Medal of Honor. As of Jan 22, 2008 A Medal of Honor was still awaiting Presidential approval. The have, however, named a Guided Missle Destroyer after him...(DDG 115)
